Right now the work on the requirements specification for a prototype has started (issue 57601) and each wish/requirement has its own issue which you can see on the wishlist for OOPM Tool - if you have an opinion or interest in some of the issues then please write a comment.

The initial development of a prototype will start soon.

There is also a discussion going on at the mailing list dev@oopm.openoffice.org with the subject "Develop from scratch or merge with another PMT project".

First we will discuss what is important in a project management tool and which existing tools we will look at for inspiration and maybe cooperation - like the existing Free & Open Source projects in this area.

Medio October 2005 a survey was held at the discussion list which generated some wishes for the project management tool and the project. You can see the wishes at the site OOPM Wishes. The wishes are used as suggested requirements for the prototype.

The discussion takes place in the mailinglist dev@oopm.openoffice.org where you have to be logged in to subscribe.

Gantt chart macro

The French and the German language project have created macro which give the opportunity to view project management data in a Calc spreadsheet as a Gantt chart.

French How-Tos is a list of several guides to use OpenOffice.org divided in sections of each application. The Gantt Chart guide is in the Calc section as item 10 as OpenDocument Text Document (.odt), PDF (.pdf) and OpenOffice.org 1.0 Writer Document (.sxw).
